we used to have carpet on the kids room but it ended up so stained and it smelled. We replaced it with wood laminate, and now it’s easier to clean.

carpet is safe for the kids but, harder to keep it clean… i go for hardwood flooring really.

The downside if you opt to NOT have flooring is that it is much noisier! We have hardwood floors throughout our house and I had to buy carpets to muffle the noise (both from footsteps and from other noising bouncing around the room).
